National low-tax figure Grover Norquist, (left) president of Americans for Tax Reform, spent Thursday traveling around the region's Third Congressional District on behalf of Republican Ed Martin, the St. Louis lawyer/activist seeking to oust U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis. Norquist said a Martin victory next year will be crucial to the national GOP aim to snag the extra 40 House seats necessary to take control of the chamber.
